1. Sanding the surface
  • Sand surface with 100 to 220 grade emery sheet.
  • All the loose particles should be removed by using a wet sponge, (with water squeezed out from it) clean the walls so that there is no dust left out.
  • Ensure that, at the time of Wall–X Putty application the surface should be in a clean & dry condition.
2. Cracked on surface
  • If you find cracks on the new surface, then do not apply Wall-X putty directly.
  • Fill the cracks with crack filler and leave it for 72 hours drying and check, if cracks are not formed then apply Wall-X putty.
3. Damp affected surface
  • Do not apply Wall–X putty directly on the damp surface.
  • Either allow the dampness to dry or apply damp proof coating.
  • After damp proof-coating leave the surface for 24 hours drying and then apply the putty.
4. Check for surface imperfections
  • Check with a light, keeping it parallel to the surface, to notice any surface imperfections.
  • If any imperfections, ask customer to rectify it because the undulation / imperfections will not be taken care of by the putty.
  • If the surface is free from imperfection directly go with putty application.
5. Temperature of the wall
  • Wall-X Putty should be applied between the temperature range from 10°C to 40°C.
  • If the surface temperature is more than 40°C, pour water on the wall to bring the temperature below 40°C and dry the wall, which is fit for application.
6. Application on different surfaces i. Application on standard surface
  • The standard surface should be smooth two coated cement – sand plaster, well cured and normal absorption and free from all type of cracks, bacteria, efflorescence, damp/wetness, water leakages, loose & foreign particles.
  • The surface should be in dry condition at the time of application.
ii. Application on newly constructed surface
  • If the surface is new and high absorption smooth two coated cement – sand plaster then the surface has to be cured with water as per curing standards or apply high-quality exterior-grade of primer or any special primers.
  • At the time of application, the surface should be in dry condition and free from all type of cracks, bacteria, efflorescence, damp/wetness, water leakages, and loose & foreign particles.
iii. Application on old surface coated with Lime/Paint
  • Scrape the old paint by using wire brush till the actual surface appears.
  • Wash the scraped surface with plain water and leave it for 24-hours to dry.
  • If any cracks, dents, chipped of plaster are noticed, repair the same.
  • Apply a coat of high quality exterior grade of primer or any special primers.
  • At the time of application, the surface should be in dry condition and free from all type of cracks, bacteria, efflorescence, damp/wetness, water leakages, loose & foreign particles.
iv. Application on POP / Gypsum
  • Apply a coat of solvent based primer or any special primers to arrest the leaching from the POP / Gypsum surface.
  • At the time of application, the surface should be in dry condition and free from all type of cracks, bacteria, efflorescence, damp/wetness, water leakages, loose & foreign particles.
v. Application on efflorescence affected surface
  • Clean the efflorescence affected surface by using special chemicals and apply a coat of efflorescence resistance / proof prime.
  • At the time of application, the surface should be in dry condition and free from all types of cracks, bacteria, damp/wetness, water leakages, loose & foreign particles.
Application Dilution before application
  • Transfer the complete 30 kg Wall – X Putty into a clean tub / bucket.
  • Initially add 8 % plain water into the above material i.e. 2.4 kg or litre and mix thoroughly manually and leave the dough for 15 minutes to react with the ingredients and then check the material’s consistency & blade movement.
  • If the material consistency & blade movement is good, then proceed for application otherwise add extra 1 to 2 % plain water i.e. 0.300 to 0.600 kg / ml and mix thoroughly & proceed for application.
  • Consume / apply the above mixed material within 72 hours.
  • The above dough should free from lumps.
  • For better results use one full bag for mixing.
  • For ease of application & to save time use quality bigger putty blade.
1st Coat application : Apply the above material with a putty blade from bottom to top and leave it for 8 hours drying when the temperature is above 35°C and if the temperature is below 35°C leave it for minimum of 12 hours for drying. 2nd Coat application : Apply the second coat horizontally after fulfilling the above condition point –
  • i. Leave it for 72 hours drying to achieve the minimum required properties.
  • ii. Do not apply the 2nd Coat when you see the wetness on the 1st Coat even after 12 hours drying.
Sanding : Carry out sanding with 320 grade emery paper to make the surface smooth & remove blade marks. If the blade marks are still appearing after sanding, use 100 to 220 grade emery paper in place of 320 grade emery paper. Primer / Paint Application
  • After sanding, remove all dust, loosely bounded particles etc. with dry cloth then the putty surface is ready for primer & paint application.
  • Ensure that the putty surface is free from dust, loosely bounded particles etc. before primer / paint application otherwise it may peel off the applied coats.
  • Clean the application tools with plain water.
coverage The coverage of Wall-X Putty per kg per two coat shall be 7.5 – 8 sft. However, the actual coverage depends on the type of surface, site conditions, applicator skills, coating thickness etc.
